CALDWELL, ID — Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash at East Linden Street and South Kimball Avenue in Caldwell that happened Monday, June 8, 2026, at about 9:20 p.m. One driver died at the scene, and three juveniles were taken to a local hospital.
Authorities said the driver of a westbound silver 2011 GMC Sierra failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a southbound white 2007 Pontiac G6 in the intersection.
What Police Reported
According to state police, the GMC was driven by a 28-year-old man from Guatemala. The Pontiac was driven by a 35-year-old man from Caldwell and had three juveniles inside.
The driver of the Pontiac died at the scene from his injuries. The three juveniles were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital, along with the GMC driver.
Victim Identified
The Canyon County Coroner identified the man who died as Miguel Vasquez. The coroner said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the extent of the injuries that caused his death.
Jennifer Crawford, Canyon County coroner, offered condolences to Vasquez’s family and loved ones after the collision.
Driver Booked
State police said the GMC driver was later arrested and booked into Canyon County Jail after being treated at a hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
