BOZEMAN, MT — A shooting outside Rocking R Bar in downtown Bozeman early Monday left one person dead, according to police. Officers were called just after 12:44 a.m. and found the victim while also beginning life-saving efforts at the scene.
Suspect taken into custody
Bozeman police say the suspect tried to leave in a vehicle, but officers quickly located and stopped that person. Investigators took 22-year-old Jakob Lundberg into custody soon after the shooting.
Charges listed for Lundberg
According to the Gallatin Detention Center inmate roster, Lundberg is being held on suspicion of deliberate homicide, criminal endangerment and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Police have not said anything in the public release about a possible motive.
Victim not yet named
The person who was shot was taken to Bozeman Health Deaconess, where they were pronounced dead. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
Investigation remains open
Police said there is no further risk to the public. The Bozeman Police Department said the case is still under investigation and added that it mourns the loss along with the community.
