ROY, UT — Police say a 25-year-old man from Idaho was killed Thursday evening in a crash involving a car, semitruck and trailer near 4750 South 1900 West in Roy. Officers were dispatched about 5:35 p.m. and later identified the driver of the Honda Accord as Jack Hemseri of Eagle, Idaho.
What investigators found
Roy police said preliminary information shows the gold Honda Accord was moving at a high rate of speed before it struck the semitruck and trailer. The crash remains under investigation, and police said the Weber Metro Crash Team is leading that work.
Injuries from the wreck
Hemseri was killed in the collision, according to police. One other person involved in the crash had to be extricated from a vehicle and was taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Semi driver not hurt
Police said the driver of the semitruck was not injured. Authorities have not released additional details about the other vehicle involved or what led up to the impact beyond the initial speeding estimate.
Crash review continues
Investigators are still piecing together the sequence of events at the Roy intersection. Police have not said when the review may be complete or whether any citations have been issued.
